Hmmm....

Someone please tell me how the whole "no dairy" thing is a good idea when all I can come up with to eat for lunch is 97% fat-free popcorn and a bottle of diet coke I found lurking in the back of the fridge?

Admittedly, when I found the diet coke, I was all, "HELLLLOOOOOO!!!! Where have you been all my life?"

So I'm good.

And by the way, boys are GROSS.

Have a good weekend ya'll.

I left this comment on the previous post but you may not check it so I'll be repetitive. Now I know I am not a mom, and I know that you know how I feel about breast feeding. HOWEVER wouldn't it be easier to just switch Oliver to soy formula rather than being ubber concerned about non dairy. Just throwing it out there because eating only popcorn is not going to help him either. HOWEVER if you choose to continue on your path. Kirkland brand of soy milk tastes like a milk shake. It isn't gross at all. I like it better than milk. So that might allow you to eat ceral and other things.

It's a bit of an adjustment--but the possibilities are endless once you learn to think non-dairy. After all, I feed my family every day (and have for a year and a half) without dairy or meat. Check out this blog, and hopefully you can get some ideas: http://beandiet.blogspot.com/

BTW--do an online search for vegan meals (even for kids specifically), and you'll get a ton of simple ideas that lack dairy.

Also, if you read up on that blog, you'll learn a lot more than you probably want to--seeing how your diet seems to consist of a lot of fast food hamburgers and milk shakes :-) Hehehee...

Love you, and good luck. There is a LOT of food out there without dairy. It hasn't always been a staple part of the diet of Americans, and it certainly isn't a staple in many other countries.

You CAN DO IT...because you're SUPER MORGAN!! (P.S. you should make yourself a cape!)

No, Alisa- my diet doesn't CONSIST of hamburgers and milk shakes. I'm just a girl who can appreciate a good one on weekly basis. ;) Ice cream, well, that is a daily thing around here. But I eat that home, not fast food. :) Thanks SO MUCH for the link. I really appreciate it.

Kelsey- you sound like Sarah. ;)

Oh. And I should point out that I especially appreciate that link because we actually are 99% meatless around here. It is just that crazy occasional cheeseburger I can't seem to let go of...

Morgan, maybe this will help you:

http://glutenfreegoddess.blogspot.com/

I know her focus is gluten free but she frequently has dairy/vegan substititues and links to other gourmet chefs who cook in one specific direction.

But I have to ask like Kelsey, are you opposed to soy and would that ease up your life?

For lunch ideas, how about: PB & J, or meat sandwhich, salad, noodles w/ butter or tomato sauce, rice and veggies, left-overs. Oh--and if it is just the lactose that you think bothers him in milk, Kraft has started making lactose free cheese.
Here's a site w/ some ideas:

Hey--and popcorn is a whole-grain! Goodluck with the no-dairy! I hope it helps!

You're funny, Morgan! Read over your blogs, and you'll notice that a large percentage of them mention your vice...hehehee...so much, in fact, that I always point it out to Jared. But you're so skinny...you can get away with it :-) Lucky you!
