"I can't do it!"

... is Henry's newest phrase as of today! I'm not sure what to think of it. On the one hand, it's pretty funny. But, on the other hand, I want to foster independence in my child, and having a "can't-do" attitude is not the way to do it. He said it 3 or 4 times today, and each time he did, I'd say, "Yes you can, you just need help."

Sigh, silly parenting. It's constantly a crap shoot.

On a happy note, we bought our new couch on Friday and it was delivered an hour later. We spent the weekend rearranging our house. Old couch OUT, new couch IN. Spencer, OUT of our room, and IN to Henry's. Changing table OUT of the boys' room and IN to the bathroom. (Bathroom is a tiny bit cramped... and we can't open the cupboards under the sink, eh... who needs 'em??)

Now, I'm singing "I am Child of God" for the zillionth time trying to get Henry to sleep before Derek gets home and I dash off to prenatal.

The only problem is that I keep typing the words I'm singing and not the words I mean to type. It's very frustrating, "rich blessings are in store"... see what I mean? It's irritating, so I'll leave you now.

Good night Friends and Readers.

Hunter says that ALL THE TIME! I ask him to finish eating something..."I can't" I ask him to go potty..."I can't", and so on. He says it in a tiny whiny voice too, so it's very irritating! Let me know if the boys like sharing a room. I'm thinking of having mine move in together so we can have a play room.

Clark did that for awhile. His latest thing is talking like a baby. Ugh, I've gotta say that nothing pushes my buttons faster--I'm not sure WHY it bugs me so much, but seriously, the second he starts grunting and pointing, I want to smack him upside the head.

So now that I've TOTALLY turned this post about ME ;), I'm just saying that I hear you. It's frustrating.

I went through a similar phase when I was a little older than Henry (not much, mind you). My phrase of choice was, "not gon' do it."
It was totally cute, of course, until one day my mom and I got locked out of our house (trailer, really). She hoisted me onto her shoulders so I could climb in through the tiny, up-by-the-ceiling bathroom window (which I got to break).
I went inside and over to the door and my mom said, "Now Chelsea, open the door."
To which I replied, "Not gon' do it!" I then proceeded to giggle profusely.
I don't remember what form of punishment my mom threatened me with if I didn't open the door, but whatever it was certainly sped up my response of, "Okay, mama, I'm doin' it!"

Let's hope Henry's "can't do it" doesn't get quite as malicious. Although it IS Henry we're talking about.... Good luck!
