What I'm Doing Lately

I am trying to write a book. TRYING is definitely the operative word here, as I just typed "right" instead of "write". TRY indeed.

I don't really know why other than that it's November which is National Novel Writing Month, it's super fun, I don't feel like washing walls that children will just draw on again, and digging clean clothes out of laundry baskets (cuz Mama can't be bothered to sort them or put them away) is like a treasure hunt.

I've tried my hand at novel-writing once before and gave up before I finished it. I was forcing a story where there wasn't one, that's all I can say about that. Then I wrote a non-fiction bit of a book and it's pretty good, sitting, waiting until one day I can get around to editing it. Which will be never.

So, now I have this story. The story. Ya know? It's basically writing itself. I don't know how, I can't explain it. The characters talk to me during the day and bug me until I put it down on my little word document.

I'm not crazy.

Well. You know what I mean. I'm not certifiable. It just feels like this story has been writing itself my entire life.

And here it goes.

So I'm writing and writing, in snippets, in passing. I leave my little netbook perched on the edge of the couch (the kids are so used to it, they *almost* don't touch it anymore), and clack out sentences as much and as often as I can (which is why my blogging has tapered off a bit) and by and by, I think I'll have a a real-something-that-maybe-people-will-read.

Maybe.

Or not.

But either way, this story is eating my brains and forcing its way out whether I like it or not. Sometimes I do like and sometimes it's boring and I wish it was written already for the love of all that is holy.

I'm determined to finish it though, editing and everything.

It's not like I've got anything else to do. I hate moving, so this is providing an excellent way to avoid doing anything moving related (although I do try to do a bit of that here and there too).

So, that's my update. That's my life.

Morgan, you are seriously my hero. I have no idea how you can physically do all that you do, especially now that I know what it's like to have a newborn! You rock my socks, lady.
