Well folks. It has happened. Something I thought never ever would. Something that likely will never happen again!
We went on an overnight adventure. And NO ONE VOMITED!
If you don't know, this is a HUGE deal. Typically, the moment we set off on any kind of trip that will keep us from our own beds for even one night, results in one or more children horfing all over the place. In the car... in the hotel... in someone's hair...
Always.
In fact, my disdain for upchuck-filled road trips has caused us to go NOWHERE overnight since April 2011, when we went to Vegas, all got the stomach flu and puked for the entire trip.
Good times. Ah, memories.
Anyway, my unwillingness to travel really finally came to an end this weekend. We joined large concourses of family in beautiful Cache Valley for the annual Pumpkin Walk. Basically, schools, retirement communities, businesses and families use pumpkins to make large displays. There was a Harry Potter scene, a Hunger Games scene, all kinds of hilarity. So fun.
See? A snowman made of pumpkins!
That was Friday night. We stayed at my sister's place in Logan and tucked all the children into bed 3 hours after their bedtime. If you know me, you know I don't care for late bedtimes. Why? Because.
Because no matter what time they go to bed, my children wake up at the butt-crack of dawn.
At 5:15, Saturday morning, Henry came in declaring that his tummy hurt. I assumed our vomit was coming soon. I was unsurprised. But he managed to not yak everywhere. I was so proud.
I then spent three hours shushing children until the rest of the house woke up. That was fun.
Then we went to the American West Heritage Center on the outskirts of Logan, where we shot gourds with a giant sling shot (as hilarious as it sounds) slid down a giant slide (EZRA LOVED IT!), played in a corn maze (it only took 5 minutes, and was 7 acres... I think we did it wrong), watched someone hypnotize a chicken, road a little train, and basically had a ball.
No one threw up there either.
Amazing.
I won't complain, although, I had dressed us all for cool, fall, Northern Utah weather and it was friggin' hot! Leg warmers, jeans and boots to the knee are NOT conducive to comfort in 75 degree weather.
I will not complain.
Then we eventually wended our way back to Salt Lake. I tucked children into bed in their own beds and marveled at the non-thrown-up-on-nature of our little adventure.
Amazing.
****EDIT!!!**** Ezra just puked all over the carpet.
