It has come to my attention that we consume entirely too many bananas in my house.
How many is too many?
Are you prepared for the answer? It's shocking.
Between the five of us who eat solid foods, I buy (and we waste NONE!) 15-20 pounds of bananas a week.
I did warn you that it was a shocking number.
Between smoothies and snacks and meals, yes, 15-20 POUNDS a week.
See, the kids love them, and they are a fast snack to curb the "I'M GOING TO DIE OF STARVATION IN THE 5 MINUTES IT TAKES YOU TO MAKE LUNCH!" cries and complaints.
And see, with Weight Watchers ruling my life, bananas totally curtail my desire to eat large quantities of cake. So, I eat a lot of them. Derek is my Weight Watchers partner. So he eats a bunch of them too.
I would like to say that choosing to eat MANY in one day is a mistake.
One night, I was writhing in pain in our bed, and Derek asked what was wrong.
"I am being punished because I ate four bananas," I said sadly.
Seriously. Cramps. Bad.
Don't eat a pound of bananas in one day. It hurts. A lot.
So, should you ever need a snack (or four) come on over to my house. I'll offer you a banana. Or four. Because if we EVER run out, I make a special trip to the store. I can thank bananas for my staying on the straight and narrow path of weight loss. If we run out, I eat cake. It's bad. Bad news.

I love banana's also! I'm the only one in my family that likes them. I eat one for breakfast every day! Maybe I should eat more... :)
Odd - my mom's cancer medication causes bad cramps (in legs, back, everywhere), and the doctor told her to eat at least 1 banana a day if not more to help relieve the cramping. She's been doing it for a few years now and swears by it. So my thought, continue to go bananas!
All those bananas would make good banana bread. I'm just saying. Muhaha. (That was my evil laugh.)
Lesa- YES eat more. Maybe if you eat them, then I won't!
Bek- Yes, this was stomach cramping that I think was because of overdosing...
Yaz- NO! You're mean and bad and I love you.
I wish bananas made me not eat cake. They don't. They make me eat bananas AND cake.
Banana's are my total WWer treat...when I have used all my points and I'm so very hungry I say, "haha weight watchers, I can have a banana and it's zero points, so there!"
Chelsea- yes sadly that is sometimes the case...
Kim- I KNOW! It's a miracle food. Back the first time I did WW when Henry was tiny, FRUIT HAD POINTS! I used to eat carrots for breakfast because a banana was TWO POINTS! No more. It's beautiful.
Yeah, at WW it seems like banannas is the snack of choice anymore...
4 bananas! That is crazy! And I don't think it would satisfy to cake craving either--you must have more will power than me!
I'm pretty sure bananas wouldn't stand in for cake in my world... but, then, I'm not on the straight and narrow weight loss path, so maybe I should think "banana=cake" and I'll be better...
When I was the innocent age of 3 or 4 my mom used to find me walking around the neighborhood asking the neighbors for bananas. It apparently embarrassed her.
Holy moly. That really is a lotta bananas! And in mid-sentence as I write this, I went and got a banana to eat. Gotta love those yellow things.
