I'm a fan...

Today, I was a fan of my children.

Now, please understand, I always, ALWAYS love my children.

However, there are some days (not many, but still some) that I text Derek at work just to let him know that three children is enough, that there will be no more, that I'm shutting down the factory. Derek doesn't like this little joke. It makes him feel bad, and sad that he gets to go off to work, and I'm stuck at home begging the boys to quit playing hockey with chain saws. (I wish I were making that up, at least they were toy chainsaws.)

He really doesn't like it when I include words like "snipped" or "clipped" in the text messages.

He especially doesn't like it when I tell him I've made him an appt... but I digress.

So, I prefer to NOT have days like that, when I wonder why we ever thought kids were a good idea.

And today was one of the GOOD days.

The boys were so cute. I didn't have to put a single one of them on timeout, not even once. I threatened Oliver a few times, but he shaped up quickly. ;)

They listened, Henry was helpful, Spencer took an excellant nap. All around, a successful day.

So, today, I'm a fan.

Here are some recent pics:

We went to the Silverton Casino last Saturday. It's one of our favorites because it's nearby and it has sting rays. Bass Pro Shops is there, and the boys like to "drive" the boats.

This sting ray was a good buddy of the boys.

We made homemade oreos yesterday. There were so good. Note I said "were." They are gone. Whoops.

See Henry's apron? My mother made that for me when I three. And now, 22 years later, it's still kicking. Oh, sweet sentiment.

That was SPENCER'S cookie. I assure you, I did not forget it.

Tonight before bed, the boys decided to have "reading time." And their choices in reading material? Henry: Kohl's Sales Ad. Spencer: The Wilford Woodruff Sunday School Manual. I promise, I had nothing to do with it.

I took no pictures of sweet baby Oliver today. But we have discovered a fascinating truth about our smallest wee one. His preferred bedtime for the day: 5:30 pm. I'm not gonna fight him on that. :)

So, to sum up, today I'm a fan of my children.

Awww, cuteness. Love the pictures (and the excellent reading material).
So I sometimes think I don't ever want to have more than two kids...glad to know that at least some days it's doable. :)

I raved about your fantastic little ones today to the mother I nanny for. Hers are cute, but, honestly, no match for yours. We have lots of stories to swap, though. You'd like Julie, I think. If you ever get back here, perhaps I'll introduce you all. Henry and Noah would probably play for a week and a day if you let them.

I'm so glad to hear that you aren't perfect, makes me feel much better about myself :) I'm glad you had a good day, those are so nice! I hope today was good too!

And your kiddos are so adorable. Any plans for a spontaneous Oregon trip? Just know there'd be a place to stay!

Boo!
What cute pics! How do you make oreos?

Clipped and snipped? Give it a few weeks and then bring it up (or not!)
