a target for helpful comments/stares/shocked faces.
And I don't know why.
Apparently, people feel the need to come up to me and say things like, "I hope that baby is a girl."
Or, "It's a girl this time, right?"
And even some say NOTHING and literally just STARE at my round-ness. And I think they're thinking "I hope that baby is a girl."
And it happens at least one time every time I go out of my house. Usually 2 or 3 times. When Derek is with me, or alone, it makes no difference. People are not shy about it.
Apparently, the fact that I have two small, but usually well-behaved boys and am very obviously pregnant (I hope) is just stare/comment worthy. Who knew?
So, I always just laugh and say, "Nope! It's a boy!" and some people laugh, and some exclaim, "Oh no!" and others, "You're going to keep trying for that girl, right?" (I am not making that up.)
HAHAHAHAH!
It wouldn't be bad, except that they are strangers.
They are people at Target or the fabric store. I don't know these people. But thankfully, the fact that they don't know me personally does not stop them from pointing out an important fact:
I am a circus freak, and I didn't even know it.
So, next time you see me, make sure to please comment on the tragedy that is being pregnant with my third boy.
Please.
And if by some weird turn of fate, this baby IS a girl, then please feel free to ask me OFTEN if I'm done now that I got my girl.
Please.

Aren't some people just so thoughtless. We (mike and both girls as well) were at walmart the other day and this complete stranger asked me what I'm having and I told her a girl, she then asked me if I was going to keep having children until I get a boy. I just said to her, "oh heavens no, we don't really care either way", Its just amazing to me too that people think its their place to speak what they are thinking. Anyway, I think its exciting that you are having a third boy and I really think stupid people ought to keep stupid thoughts to themselves!!
UGH, this is so going to be me. (Eventually. Not any time soon.)Even people in my family say that stuff all the time. "Now all she's missing is her girl." Or they'll see someone with two boys and a girl and say, "That's going to be Nathaly." Really? How do you know? What if I have another boy? Would that be so horrible? Because I'd really like to keep my first two, so I'm thinking I'd be a fan of the third. Silly people.
Hey Morgan! I love reading your blog! I get the "Oh a perfect family" comment all the time since I have 1 boy and 1 girl. Won't they be shocked if I end up having a 3rd and ruin it all!
Lyndy
Lyndy- Where the heck have you been??? How are you? :)
Nat- Yeah, just wait, no matter what, girl or boy, people will comment.
Anna- I know, it's NOT a tragedy to have children of one gender. It's just NOT!
you know it never ends though dont ya? people just keep coming up with more random none of their business things to ask.. believe me i've had a lot.. like seriously right out of the sealing room when we got married and my sister asked, so when ya gonna have a kid... umm cuz thats exactly whats on my mind right now..
and i kid you not i will LAUGH if the baby is a girl I will. =) Not that it matters either way, but like I said I will laugh.
People amaze me. I wonder what gives these people the idea that they have any right whatsoever to comment on ANYONE'S reproductive choices/circumstances. I give you props for being so polite to them. I would start interrogating them about their kids or lack thereof! The audacity of some people!
Morgan, you can tell people that you are just trying to be economical in this financially trying times by having all boys. This way you won't have to buy all new clothes, you're all set!
When we had Belle people said would ask me if I was done because I have one of each. Well, since I'm prego with #3, time to throw off the balance. Dad says a boy, Mom says a girl, and I don't care either way as long as it is a healthy baby.
I still get comments on my family all the time. And I'm not pregnant. Things like "You finally got your boy" and "Are you done now that you have a boy". My favorite is when I'm out with just Callie and Aaron and people say "Wow! You must be really busy." All I can think is if they only knew I had two more they would really freak!!
So no matter what your situation random strangers feel the need to comment on children. I don't know why. But I remember being pregnant with Aaron and people were always telling me they hoped it was a boy!
That is very odd... Im sorry and I don't think your a freak... Im not sure I could have three boys but some people were destined for Sainthood...lol :-). I tried to call you back but it kept saying the call couldn't be connected at this time...
Hahahaha. I can't believe the things people feel like they can say to pregnant women. What's the deal?
Coming from a family of all girls, I don't think it's a big deal to have all of one gender. I have a friend who just had her second girl in August, and she was desperately hoping it wasn't a boy. She doesn't want boys, period. Huh? Not cool! Hooray for boys!
Hey Morgan, I've always been around:) Just chugging along:) Logan keeps me going crazy and the baby keeps me a little sane she's so cute. Although she has her flaws too ;)
Boo, I am so sorry.
I used to get those kinds of comments also. It's okay, you know what you're doing is right so smile beatifically and say, "Nope, it's a boy and we're just delighted! I'm the luckiest mom in the world!"
MA
Morgan in this day and age it really doesn't matter the gender is anyway. Geez...those people who are worried about gender are so old fashioned. Your kids will get to decide their gender anyway when they get older. Don't worry!
