In which Morgan learns that not all cartoons are for children.
So, in an effort to be cool, or whatever, we went and rented movies today. We took the kids to the Christmas section and let them pick.
This is the one they chose:
The Flight Before Christmas
It looked cute, sounded very clean and family-friendly. So, we got it for them.
Well.
The entire premise of this movie is, Nico, the little Reindeer is searching for his father.
*Ahem* excuse me, his "Baby Daddy."
Why? Because his mother only knew him for an hour and half. They met once and then he was gone.
*ahem*
So, apparently his "baby daddy" is a member of Santa's flight squad and all cool and "sailor" like and has a "baby mama" in every port.
I am not making this up.
So, Nico goes and tries to find his dad, with them help of some very loveable forest creatures.
When he finds the Flight Squad for Santa, he tells them that one of them is his daddy.
But, apparently ALL of Santa's reindeer are man-whores because none of them can specifically recall knocking up his mother.
Sigh.
It ended well, I suppose.
But, seriously people. I REALIZE that many many people choose to have children out of wedlock, but must we make CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS movies about it?
So, I have learned the hard way that not all cartoons are for children. This one is intended to be, but if I had screened it first, Henry would never have seen it.
I am all about Winnie the Pooh and Christmas Too.

I whole-heartedly agree with you, here, Morgan.
I can kind of see where some, poor, misguided soul might decide that somebody needs to make kids in...that situation... feel more... included or something, but... that is NOT the way to go about it. Isn't there a more G-rated, truly kid-friendly way to go about doing that?
I'm... quite baffled and speechless, to be honest. lol
Totally made this same mistake. It looked cute and harmless, but we started watching it and I was like, WHAT? Sooo, it was back to watching Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas.
I have "A Charlie Brown Christmas" if you want to borrow it. It talks about the true meaning of Christmas.
